Teacher Training Courses

The Tommy Flowers SCITT offers training courses for both primary and secondary trainee teachers in a range of subjects and a number of different pathways. The most popular routes are the SCITT’s Tuition-Fee QTS or QTS with PGCE courses. For candidates who already have experience working in schools and have a school in place to employ them, we offer the Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship (academies and multi-academy trusts) or the Salaried QTS (primary only) route (local authority or academy schools). Finally, candidates who have worked as unqualified teachers for at least two years (or part-time equivalent), can apply for the Assessment Only route.

Primary training is available through the Tommy Flowers SCITT in the 5-11 age phase (Key Stages 1 and 2) or through our partner provider, Bedgrove Infant School in Aylesbury in the 3-7 age phase (Early Years and Key Stage 2).

Secondary teacher training is available in the following subjects: Art and Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design and Technology, Drama, English, Geography, History, Maths, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, PE, Physics, Religious Education and Social Sciences.

For all ages and subjects, this route leads to the award of Qualified Teacher Status at the end of the 10-month course.

Our most popular route, this leads to Qualified Teacher Status and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education.

The Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship is a salaried route for experienced candidates who have an employing school (academies only) in place.

The salaried QTS route is for primary candidates with prior experience and an employing school in place.
