Teacher Training Courses

The Tommy Flowers SCITT offers training courses for both primary and secondary trainee teachers in a range of subjects and a number of different pathways. The most popular routes are the SCITT’s Tuition-Fee QTS or QTS with PGCE courses. For candidates who already have experience working in schools and have a school in place to employ them, we offer the Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship. Finally, candidates who have worked as unqualified teachers for at least two years (or part-time equivalent), can apply for the Assessment Only route.

Primary training is available through the Tommy Flowers SCITT in the 5-11 age phase (Key Stages 1 and 2) or through our partner provider, Bedgrove Infant School in Aylesbury in the 3-7 age phase (Early Years and Key Stage 1).

Secondary teacher training is available in the following subjects: Art and Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design and Technology, Drama, English, Geography, History, Maths, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, PE, Physics, Religious Education and Social Sciences.

The Tommy Flowers SCITT is the ONLY teacher training provider in England offering a £3,000+ bursary for ALL tuition-fee courses not eligible for a government bursary, including primary and secondary art, business, drama, English, history, music, PE, RE and social sciences. With a 100% employment rate, the Tommy Flowers SCITT works in partnership with schools across Milton Keynes, Aylesbury, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire to create a thriving community where trainee teachers reach their goal of gaining Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Described as being “like a family” (Ofsted), our partnership schools’ high standards and supportive relationships lead the majority of Tommy Flowers SCITT graduates to choose employment in their placement schools.

Combining cutting-edge research with our innovative practical curriculum, applicants have the choice to attain a Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) to complement Qualified Teacher Status. The PGCE is taught face-to-face in Milton Keynes and awarded by Northumbria University.
