Tommy Flowers SCITT Bursaries
For all the subjects and courses that do not attract a salary or government funding, the Tommy Flowers SCITT is pleased to be able to offer a unique, £3,000 bursary only available when training on our tuition-fee courses.
In Primary (ages 5-11) and Secondary Business Studies, Drama, History, PE and Social Sciences, our bursary gives all tuition fee trainees £3,000 tax-free. Paid in ten equal instalments throughout the training year, it can ease the cost of training to teach. The bursary is in addition to any funding received through Student Finance England and is not means-tested.
The bursary is to support trainee teachers with the cost of living, so could be spent on food, petrol or housing costs.
What about shortage subjects?
For certain ‘shortage’ secondary subjects, the Government offer generous ITT bursaries, which like the Tommy Flowers SCITT bursaries are tax-free and paid in ten equal instalments.
For 2025-26, the bursaries are as follows:
- £29,000 in chemistry, computing, mathematics and physics
- £26,000 in biology, design and technology, geography and languages
- £10,000 in art and design, music and RE
- £5,000 in English
It is the candidate’s responsibility to check that they are eligible for the bursary. Furhter details on eligibility are available on the Get Into Teaching website.
